I want to tow a pop-up trailer with a weight of 2,500 lbs. Will routinely tow to 10,000 ft above sea level and on interstates. I need to decide on an appropriate tow vehicle (preferably not too big or too small). THANKS
Any vehicle with a factory tow package (max tow cap.-3500#) or if you prefer, you (at the least), mount an aftermarket tranny cooler and a heavy duty flasher.
The package usually comes with a heavy duty battery, alternator, rad, flasher and trailer wiring for either a 7 prong plug (for large trailers) or a 4-wire plug.
Your trailer will likely have its own brakes (due to the weight) so you may want to get a brake controller.
(If the brakes are electric)
I recommend (and use myself) a Prodigy.
I used to pull a 2500# Coleman Hardtop camper with my 2000 Olds Silhouette 3.4L V6 (van).
A Chevy Astro mini van can easily tow 4000 lbs. A class 3 hitch bolts right on. It basically has the drive train of a half ton pickup, 2005 was the last year of production however, so it would have to be used.
