I have a 2010 Acura TSX. The manual says the car need 91 octane but the pumps only offer 87, 89 or 93. Should I buy half 89 and half 93? Would buying 89 hurt my car? Is 93 going to be too much?
Use the 93 or find another brand of gas that sells 91.
Using octane lower than the specified 91 can cause long-term damage to the engine.
91 should be considered the “minimum” octane. Higher won’t hurt anything, but is not necessary.
91 is the minimum octane so 92/93 is fine.
I occasionally blend 89 with my tanks when I know I have at least half 93 octane. Its fine and my engine (high strung turbo) needs higher octane far more than a TSX.
