As true as that may or may not be, we don’t have the roads to handle the traffic now when heavy, where would they build these new roads just for semi truck in the cities that are over crowded as it is???
There is a lot of freight traffic on these western US highways, seems to be a higher priority than joyriders. Maybe passenger cars should have their own roads or be restricted from travel during certain hours.

Well gee maybe the problem is the large cities and not the roads? Cluster everything together in one area with people not living where they work and surprise, congestion. I noticed this going into Minneapolis in the 70s. There was no great traffic problem until the huge downtown developments with few people living downtown.

Maybe Jerome is suggesting more use of RR piggyback service. Problem is, RRs don’t go everywhere, therefore must be trucked.
