When and why are cigarette lighters and ash trays no longer in vehicles?

It was not designed into every car back then. Heat was an option mainly sold up North. Why buy a car with a heater if you lived in Southern Texas? And not all cars even had that option.

You can pick your friends, you can pick your nose, but you canā€™t pick your friendā€™s nose.

Sometimes gets cool enough in the South to need a heater.

Did Ford not warm his Model Tā€™s with a radiator using wastengiheat?
So.me manufacturers went backward and made it an option?
Did not realize they could be so desperately miserly.

Into the 60s the Chrysler Corp heater assemblies were all contained under the hood down the passenger side inner fender,The heater core itself was under the hood. Very easy to service. Ibe thing I always appreciated about Mopar heaters was that as long as the car was moving, you did not need the blower motor to get heat. This reduced the noise level in the car and made the blower motor and resistors last much longer.

One interesting note, the 61 Dodge Dart Phoenix I had still had the inline under the hood heater. When I got over 85 Mph the air would rush through the heater core so fast it did not have enough time to extract heat, I had to put a sheet metal baffle in front of the air intake for the heater.

Donā€™t think thatā€™s true. They did vent engine compartment air into the passenger compartment with the model A. I donā€™t know if that was an option.
