Are the tires the only thing that would cause a loud hum while riding in the car?
I have heard it could be bearings? is this correct? MY car is louder and louder but has been humming a few years now. but only louder recently.
It can be bearings, yes. Easy way to test this is to swerve (gently and safely) back and forth. If it gets louder in one direction then you know it’s a bearing on the opposite side - -i.e. if you swerve left and the noise increases, it’s a right-side bearing.
Some tires get noticeably louder as the tread goes down.
Don’t mess around guessing. Take it to a good local front end/alignment/suspension shop and have it checked out. Bad bearings are a bad thing.
