I have a 1993 Subaru Justy 2 door. Recently as in the last couple of days it’s started to make a strange noise that I’m hoping you can diagnose. It sounds like it’s coming from my front driver side wheel. It’s like a ringing kind of whirring sound. I changed my own tires with the help of my boyfriend about 2 months ago, so that might have posed a problem.
I also would like to know how immediately you think I should get it fixed. My parents are giving me their 2003 forrester in August so I don’t really want to put a lot of money into my Justy.
Any suggestions?
Thanks - Adrienne
More info: It doesn’t make the sound when I start the car just when I speed up and slow down. It might help to know I have a standard transmission. Even when the clutch is in to slow down it makes the noise.
This may be a wheel bearing. If it is, that is a definite safety issue.
I would suggest having the wheel bearing checked, as that is preferable to losing a wheel at high speed.
