What does "Trac Off" do?

I could see stability control being useful in a top heavy SUV. But in a low slung sports car. Particularly one that’s been modified, it’s more of a hindrance than anything else. It wouldn’t be so bad if you could adjust the parameters of the traction and/or stability control, and some very high end cars do have adjustable traction/stability/diff controls, but more ordinary cars don’t. For my car, if I leave the traction control on, when taking off briskly it has a conniption fit and cuts the spark/fuel to the engine, which is annoying. I haven’t found a way to reprogram it specifically, so I just leave it off.

The only time you should turn it off is if you are driving in soft sand or gravel, say - on a beach or on a real back country road. For normal, everyday driving, leave it alone.

The only time you should really shut it off if you are stuck on snow/ice or mud. Otherwise pretend it does exist and drive on with a
