To Stop The Whining, Take Your Noisy Car To The Mechanic - Car Talk
I have not used belt dressing in over 60 years and never tried to taste it. IUf you have some belt dressing it is probably 60 years old and who knows what it tastes like now.
Depends on the vehicle manufacturer.
On Toyotas, “Thousand Island” and Fiats “Italian”.

I don’t use belt dressing, I correct the reason for the noise or just live with it until I have time to correct the noise issue…
From Dear Car Talk:
“If your mechanic suspects it’s the belt, there’s a quick, easy way for him to test that. He can spray a quick burst of belt dressing on it.”
That might work on V-belts but do not use belt dressing on modern vehicles.
Belt dressing on a multi grove or serpentine drive belt will cause a screeching noise and belt replacement will be necessary. Before installing a new belt, each pulley must be cleaned with brake cleaner and a cloth.
Anything to make a belt taste good!
