i just bought a 1992 chevrolet cavalier as is (of course). its a 2.2 L. 4 cyl. manual and when i push in the clutch pedal it makes a knocking sound. i checked the tranny fluid and there is a little too much fluid in it. could that be the problem? also, i had the front of the car on jack stands and i started it and it made no noises, so now i’m confused. as soon as i get a chance i will drain the extra fluid but i just wanted an educated opinion. thanx ahead for any info
The problem isn’t in the tranny. I suspect you have a worn out release bearing (also commonly called a throwout bearing). You may even have a bad pressure plate. Anyway, they’re all part of a “clutch kit” and all get changed together during a clutch replacement.
