My water temp will rise to the red-line after 5-10minutes of driving and stay there for 7-15 seconds and then level off. Is it possible that the coolant is low? I just had it serviced for oil change and valve cover work.
A sticking thermostat will cause that. You might try replacing the thermostat to see if the coolant temp becomes more stable.
