since november 09 i have had to put 4 water pumps in my explorer what things could be going wrong to make the water pump wear out? what makes a water pump die out?
Are you installing NEW or rebuilt pumps? You get what you pay for.
Even the McParts El-Cheapo pumps would usually last a year. Could the wrong belt(too short) be putting too much tension on the pump?
Have you done an autopsy on them? In other words, does it seem like the bearing is going out, or that it’s just not moving enough fluid?
I vote “belt tension too high”. Common…very common.

Maybe you should try another mechanic.
