Water Leak 1999 Pontiac Sunfire

I have a water leak somewhere but I cannot find it. The hoses do not leak but the coolant light comes on. At first I only had to add water occassionally. Now it is every other day. There is no sign of leakage anywhere. This car has a radiator that does not have a cap. You add water through the coolant tank. What is the problem? I can’t take it to a garage because I am short on cash. I can repair it myself if I knew what the problem was. Help!

Keep Adding Coolant. Keep Saving Your Money.

The absence of any external leaks and the presence of coolant consumption could indicate an internal leak from a defective head gasket or intake manifold gasket.

This car should probably have a cooling system pressure test to help veify and locate the problem.

Keep in mind that by continuing to drive the vehicle that you could do more damage or become stranded or both.
