I have a 2002 Taurus Wagon with 72000 miles. I have an intertten problem with the engine suddenly racing and the car then vibrates. This problem has happened coming out of a toll booth at 5 mph, going up a hill at 70 mph and on a flat road at 70 mph in and out of cruise control. I have had diagnostics run but no indication as to the cause of the problem. Any ideas other than not paying tolls and going slower than 7o mph? (sorry)
Automatic transmission? Have you checked the fluid? What does it look and smell like?
This soulds like a safety issue. I would have it looked at and make sure the cruise control, motor mounts, and transmission were checked out. Could be something wierd.
