Vehicle Speed Sensor Location

I have a 97 Ford Taurus, 3.0L (Not DOHC) with 17 bolt transmission. Need to replace the vehicle speed sensor and cannot find this thing. I’ve been told side of tranny, end of tranny, follow the wire harnesses… I can’t find it. Any specific clues?

The VSS is located on the top of the transmision where the right drive axle goes in. It is located nect to the rear exhaust manifold flange covered with a heat sheild. Hope that helps.
