Used car

I’m considering purchasing a 2001 Avalon with all the bells and whistles. It has 95K miles and they’re asking $9K…I’ve driven it and it’s really in good shape…any comments?

Check out kbb.com, nada.com, edmunds.com to get a feel for the price and value to you. Also have a mechanic do a pre-purchase inspection to verify the car’s overall mechanical condition. Check and find out if the Avalon has a timing belt and when it will come due for replacement.

The price is too high. Edmunds says that an XLS with all the options is worth about $6600 in a private sale. A dealer should be asking about $7800. It’s a low mileage car, and the current owner might have an inflated expectation of the premium for that. Offer them $6295. When they say of course not, leave your contact information as suggest that they get back to you when no one buys the car. And no one will.

Thanks to both of you for your input…will take under advisement…

It’s not too old and I hope the belts don’t whistle. Let me read that again.

What do mean the belts don’t whistle and let me read that again ?
