I have a 2008 Kia Spectra with 52,000 miles. About a month ago I started noticing a metalic spinning type sound coming from the back right of my vehicle when turning right. The noise is now getting louder and louder. Any idea what this could be?
It could be a bad wheel bearing.
It doesn’t have the same sound as a wheel bearing. Its higher pitched and a more graceful noise.
Graceful eh? Wheel bearings make a variety of sounds when they go bad. If the car has rear disc brakes it could be a brake pad wear indicator rubbing when you turn. On a Kia Spectra, there aren’t many moving parts on or around the rear wheels, so it’s a bearing, brakes or tire noise, 97.5% guaranteed.
The only thing else moving around there would be the electric fuel pump in the gas tank. I wonder if the amount of fuel in the tank makes a differene. Maybe the fuel is sloshing away from the pump during the turn.
