Unidentified Life Form Growing on Engine Block

I have been driving this car only once a week. Each time getting up to operating temperature. Not driving it much more than anymore than to acomplish that. I poped the hood, and there’s some unidentified life form growing on the engine block that I haven’t noticed before. Looks like some kind of fungus/mold or plant based life form. Any idea what it is, and how I should get rid of it so it doesn’t grow back?

I realize there’s some seepage, but I don’t know what the white fungus looking thingy is. Should I be concerend?

Rub it off with a wire brush. It isn’t alive, it is aluminum salts. It is nothing to worry about.

If you have a UV light, would if fluoresce?

@Robert-Gift

How about you scrap it off and spread it on YOUR sandwich?:smiley:

Myvife be Chinese. Probably already haveaten similar.
Regarding her cuisine: Don’t ask, don’tell. (She eats silkworm larvæ.)

Fun using the UV light finding things which fluoresce.
Work bench tape measure case brightly fluoresces as do some tool handles, towels and LED bulb LEDs. (On clamp lights I remove the LED bulbs’ round plastic bulbs. More light and the little LEDs bring out sharp detail.)
