Transmission Safety Switch

I have a 1982 Ford Grenada with a V6. About a year and a half ago, my back-up lights failed. My mechanic and a transmission specialist told me that the backup switch on the transmission is bad and it’s impossible to find a replacement because of the car’s age. They both tried the internet and nearby salvage yards. Now, my engine dosen’t crank when the lever is in park. It cranks only in neutral. I assume it’s the transmission safety switch. Will I be able to find find a replacement for this switch? Or, is it part of the same switch assembly as the backup switch?

Yes. This is the park/neutral safety/reverse light switch.

They shouldnt be hard to find at all. My supplier keeps them and lists them for $125.00 for the C5 and C4 transmissions and for $50.00 for the C3 transmission. The 82 Granada used all three of these transmissions so you are going to need to know which transmission is in your Granada.

Heres what it looks like:

THank you very much, transman. Could you please tell me who your supplier is so that I can pass the info on to my transmission man?
