The car is a 2002 Cadillac DTS with 74,000 miles on it. It has had the “service engine soon” light come on several times. I had it checked at Auto Zone and the code was P 1860. The guy at the Zone said it had to do with the tranny. Can anyone advise what the problem might be and the seriousness and cost involved. There was no indication that anything was wrong other than the Service engine soon light.
P1860 is “TCC PWM Solenoid Circuit Electrical”, which one of the transmission experts here (hello transman?) will have to translate.
From my limited auto trans knowledge, it sounds rather innocuous especially if you’re not experiencing drivability problems. But let’s see what transman says, and if he doesn’t respond let a local independent transmission shop check it out.
P1860 - TCC PWM Solenoid Circuit Electrical.
This is the circuit to activate the lock-up torque converter in the transmission. The ECM is not getting the proper feedback from the torque converter that it is responding to the signal. This may require a trip to the transmission shop to get a better diagnosis.
