Tranny or rear end?

I have a 1999 chevy blazer with 128xxx, and it has a hard shift from 1st to 2nd, I guess, meaning I think it is from the tranny and not the rear end. When the engine is cold or has sat for and hour or so it appears to shift fine, but once is has warmed completely it shifts hard into 2nd. any help or thoughts? Thx

Yes, it’s from the transmission. Can we assume that you have checked the fluid level, and that the fluid is not original with the car?? It sounds like a valve is sticking. New fluid MAY fix that, so might an application of Trans-X or Sea Foam, but I’d recommend new fluid and a filter.

Scan the computer and post back with the trouble codes. Probably a P-1870… Most auto parts stores will scan it for free. If you get a P-1870 code which means “Transmission component slipping” and they try to sell you some part, kindly say no and post back with us. There are internal transmission issues which can remedy this situation.
