Tranny damaged due to engine repair?

I have a 1996 BMW 735i V8 3.5l, and had the clutch replaced back in mar 08. Everything was fine until this month when I had the engine replaced and the clutch felt stiff then it started to leak trans. fluid.

Is it possible for them to have damaged a seal along the clutch throw out assemble or something due to rough handling when removing and replacing the new engine?

I’m asking because they are trying to get me to pay for the labor on taking down the trans.

Thanks

There is no reason for the clutch to have felt differently after the engine replacement unless they had a mishap when matching up the engine to the tranny. It is reasonable to guess an event that would damage the clutch could tweek the tranny input shaft enough to damage the front seal on the tranny.

Your problem is that you cannot prove that they damaged the car unless you pull the tranny yourself. Even if you or another shop do it, that shop may argue that you did the damage dismantling it.
