Had the same problem for my Chevy avalanche took it to GM dealership and they replaced the steeeing wheel position sensor. Repair was about 800$.
I’ve repaired a couple of these by replacing the throttle body. The throttle position sensor can cause an issue with regard to the accelerator position sensor. When they aren’t seeing the same information, it believes there is a slip condition. At least in my experience with this issue, the replacement part solved the issue. Of course, the appropriate resets and relearns were performed before throwing parts at it.

I have found that the issue with the Traction Activation on my 2005 Yukon Denali is connected with the wheel hub assembly. I had NO issue until I replaced the Wheel Speed Sensor which was we all know it the Traction Control Sensor as well. I only changed the sensor The first time it engaged and the system throttled the power down was that test drive after the replacement. I had gotten on the throttle when entering the on ramp to the highway. The the vehicle bogged down, took my foot off the gas pedal, the warning display disappear, but the gas again and all was back to normal I then proceeded to try various take offs. NOTHING. Only after the vehicle sits for a little bit and cools off does the issue resurfaces. The wheel hubs were do for replacement. I replaced both assemblies in the front. Used my scanner and cleared the code for right front Speed Sensor after the sensor was replaced. NO need codes before hub assembly replaced. No codes after assembly replaced. The only thing I could see is the hub assembly was dirty from brakes.
I found my GM vehicles of the same vintage to be extremely sensitive to wheel speed sensor distance to the tone ring. If even a small amount of rust built up under the sensor mounting f l a n g e, it would cause intermittent signal drop out. This results in activation of traction control on takeoff or ABS on stops.
I tried replacing just the sensor once early on. It didn’t work. When I compared the length of the sensors, the new one was just a fraction shorter. These were OEM replacements. I shaved off some material from the sensor mounting f l a n g e and got it to work reliably. The next time I needed a sensor, I just replaced the hub with a loaded sensor to avoid any fitment issues…

In snow id turn the traction control off in my pontiac. Otherwise it would drive me to the side and not allow straight travel. Might hav3 been something wrong but was that way since new.
