TPMS Sensors - Amazon or AC/Delco?

One of my TPMS sensors has finally failed after 14 years. My question here is should I go for the OEM AC/Delco part or Amazon? The OEM sensors are $30-50 for each, but I can get 4 from Amazon for $35 or so.

I already spoke to the local tire place and they can do the install, and I asked if they could verify one wheel first before installing all four and they are good with that.

I learned a lesson purchasing electronic components on Amazon.

DON’T DO IT!.

I purchased two coils for the gas valves for my dryer. When they were installed they didn’t work.

So, I took them out to the shop and tested them and the resistance readings were way off. So, i cut them open and found there were no windings in the coils. They were dummies.

I agree, spend the money on one AC Delco, replace as needed.

I would also get the AC Delco.

What brand are the ones for sale on Amazon? I doubt that they’re in the business of contracting for auto parts. In this case they’re just acting as a sale platform.

Have you checked RockAuto?

Which means the others are not far behind, just do all 4 and be done with it.

Better yet…

Let the tire shop replace all 4 of them at the same time, using their parts. At least that way they’ll stand behind the parts and their work.

Gee, 14/years versus unknown cheap junk? The labor for each wheel will cost about the same as the sensor.

I am listening. Lots of good suggestions. I’m looking into the cost for the tire place to just install what they sell. I figured the Amazon price was just too good to be true.

But I am still listening.

Ask them what brand of sensors they use. If they are not Delco or another well known brand, then ask what the price would be using Delco TPMS sensors.

You can buy TPMS sensors from various manufacturers through Amazon storefront including OEM AC/Delco. If you buy the cheapest ones offered, I have a prediction for you…

Here’s another twist to think about. You buy the sensor and the shop puts them in and they don’t work. The cost to pull them out again is on you not the shop. That’s why you just let th3 shop handle the job unless you want to break the bead on the tires and do it yourself. Sorry but I don’t think th3 shop really needs this kind of business.

I don’t know how much the shop charges you but get a quote from Costco too, that is if you have the membership.
They have their sensors, I assume they will stand behind them.
