Our 3-speed automatic transmission 2009 Toyota Yaris runs at 4000 rpm at 70 mph on flat portions of the interstate. Does this tachometer reading seem excessive or more or less normal?
There is no 3 speed automatic 2009 Toyota Yaris. The only automatic offered was a 4 speed.
My mistake. 4-speed. Same question.
4000 sounds about 1000 RPM to high. Can you FEEL it shift three times?? (2ed, 3rd, 4th) Then you should feel the torque converter lock up, almost like another shift…
If not, have Toyota check it out. Given the final drive ratio and tire size, one of our techno-posters should be able to compute the exact RPM at 70 MPH…
