I am looking at getting a Prius soon in the next year, and I was telling someone this. They said oh I wouldn’t because as soon as it hits 100,000 miles when your warranty ends you have to change the battery and its like really expensive. Is this true does anyone know?
Not true, batteries are turning out to be ‘life of the car’ items, very few replacements needed, certainly not the rule at 100k. But the possibility is always there, it is a slight additional risk with a hybrid.
The Prius is not a trouble free car, but the battery packs have not been problematic. Most of the original Prius’s are still going strong on their original battery packs.
