My wife was driving our '02 Dodge Grand Caravan on the highway and when she accelerated and made a lane change she lost power steering. There wasn’t a noise when this happened or afterward. It was just very very difficult to turn the steering wheel, but it could be done. I checked the fluid and it was ok. Is it the pump for sure?
The pump, or a loose belt, or the rack & pinion. I would suggest that you check this out thoroughly before she loses all ability to steer that vehicle.
