I would look into going to America’s Tire (Discount Tire). Most of their locations consistently rate very high, and they are reasonable. And they are a national brand, so you get the free flat replacements, etc… that you don’t get with tirerack.

My advice would be to step back, take a deep breath, and hold off on ordering anything at this point. While I do my tire research in tirerack, I’ve found the prices at local independent tire shops to be equal or better than tireracks. If there are local independent tire shops in your area (not chains), I’d recommend giving them a call.

Thanks for the reviews. On my current tires, I went to get them roadforce balanced. For 2000 corolla stock, the PSI rating for all four tires 30PSI. The shop put 35 in one tire and 38 in the other…is there a reason why they did that?

Incompetence? It’s possible that they put 38 in all the tires, which is 8 pounds high and shouldn’t be done. And then one of the tires that’s on a particularly badly-bent rim is losing pressure due to that, so by the time you got around to measuring them it had lost a few pounds.

Tire Rack has been my go to store for about 10 years. I get exactly the tires I want and have my top notch mechanics install them. Do I pay more? Probably. Is it worth it? You bet. I have about 43,000 miles on my 4 year old OEM tires, and I think I can get at least 50,000 miles before replacement. I’ll check Tire Rack when tread depth is close to replacement level.
