How do I set the timeing on a 2001 4.03 6 cylinder ? Its in chevy silverado.
You don’t. It is set by the computer and not adjustable.
Are you maybe in the process of replacing the timing chain? B/c as BustedKnuckles said, other than that you can’t mess with the timing.
What’s going on with the truck? Is it not starting, just running on without ever trying? What is the history of this problem? The more information you provide the more people can help.

Apparently he did headgaskets, and now has no idea how to reset the distributor. I can’t believe he’d tackle this job without a manual with the proper instructions, torque settings, et al.
