I bought a 99 Accord (auto) in November of '08 with 118 k and is now pushing 127k. Probably tomorrow I am going to have the transmission fluid changed as preventative maintenance. No telling when it was last changed, however.
Right now, the fluid looks and smells good, is at the proper level and does not have any metal shavings in it, etc. so I’ve decided its ok to go ahead and drop & fill this fluid.
I’m going to make sure that the shop:
A. Does carry the Honda ATF
B. Will only drop & fill with fresh fluid, not flush.
So my question is, Should there be anything else I need to voice my concern over this relatively minor maintenance chore? For the record, its a LOCAL chain. I guess its an independent mechanic.
Please and thanks.

It sounds like you’re doing the right thing. Good luck.
I would make sure the shop uses genuine Honda ATF. Hondas are very picky about the fluid. Do not accept any excuses about some generic fluid that is “compatible”.
I have an 2003 accord. There is no oil pan and no replaceble filter. All you can do is drain three quarts and refill. I do this about every 20K miles.
You’ve got it all covered Jeff. The only other thing I could say is that these are so simple to service that you could probably save some money and do it yourself. If you feel comfortable doing so.
