I have a 98 Honda Accord. There is some play in the right front tie rod. Is it possible to tighten this instead of replacing the whole thing?
The tie rod or the tie rod end?
There is no tightening of the tie rod end but is possible to snug a tie rod up. The problem with the latter is that this is not considered a proper repair and it’s highly unlikely you would ever find a shop willing to do this.
I’re removed tie rods from a few of my older cars and snugged them up by putting them in a hydraulic press and crushing them down a few thousandths of an inch with a heavy wall metal sleeve. Proper no; doable, yes.
