HI,I HAVE A 1993 MERCURY VOYAGER VAN. THE THROTTLE STICKS WHILE DRIVING AND I HAVE TO FLOOR THE THROTTLE TO GET IT UNSTUCK. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. THEY TOOK IT OUT FOR A TEST DRIVE BUT IT DID NOT STICK AND THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE I’VE HAD IT I DROVE IT OUT OF TOWN YESTERDAY AND IT DROVE TERRIBLE WITH THIS PROBLEM. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY ADVICE? THANKS, JEANIE
The best advice to you, and everyone else on the road around you, Dont drive this van until the problem is fixed. One of these times you are going to step on the throttle and its NOT going to come back up. Bring it to a small independent garage and explain the situation there. Smaller garages tend to deal more with older vehicles and probably have dealt with this issue many many times. It is probably something as simple as cleaning gum buildup on the throttle body somewhere.
