Back when wide whitewalls on an XKE was in style.
Some probably have become parts donors for others but there are specialists who restore and resto-mod these.
Of all the cars of that era I bet that group of XKEs had a better survival rate than most. They were always ‘special’.
I’m wondering out of the remaining ones still left , how many have V8 swapped engines now…
The 6’s were very durable engines, but the array of carburetors and the Lucas ignition system drove people nuts.
In college I looked at one of those on the used car lot but they wanted more than the $500 I could scrape up. Their loss. Bet they are sorry now.

A former colleague at an aftermarket shock absorber company in California searched for 18 months for an XJ6, the sedan, still with the stock 6 to develop replacement shocks. All had been converted to Chevy V8s. They gave up and offered shocks for the engine swap version.
