When I had a full size van (and the kids were small) I installed a second radio/tape/disc player for the mid and rear seats. It needed earphone jacks near each seat position. Now that the kids are older and I drive a smaller car, the second system isn’t as important as just having rear seat headphone jacks.
ABS is much improved from the early units. I had a 1994 Blazer that was so intent that the wheels would not lock, that you could not stop the darn thing on an icy surface, and with a trailer behind it the ABS engaged far too easily and would increase stopping distance. When that vehicle was replaced with a 2002 Jeep Liberty I specificly avoided getting a vehicle with ABS. However, the ABS in my 2009 Honda Fit works good, as do most new systems. And you will have to look long and hard to avoid mechanical-electric-sophisticated-built-in system to handle skids, as this is more and more required by our Big Brother government.
I believe those blue High Intensity discharge (HID) headlights used on the higher priced cars Are Euro-code. The cheap imitation blue halogen replacement bulbs are not.
No, they’re not Euro-code. Euro-code is illegal for any headlamps in the USA thanks to FMVSS108. Unless you’ve imported your car from Canada with e-codes and not had it converted to comply with FMVSS108, you’re not using e-codes.
Heated outboard mirrors — very important safety features here in the frozen Northwest (Idaho). It’s almost impossible to scrape mirrors with the usual hand scraper.
I don’t think those of us who live in the south would want to see these installed as standard equipment. Thanks but no thanks.
If you want these features, I think you should have to pay extra for them. I don’t want them standard on my cars.
I don’t understand the benefit of making these standard on all vehicles. They don’t cost that much, and if you really want one, they are easy to find.
What if you are being shot at by a crazy road raging maniac? I think you will want to be able to call for help without pulling over.
What if you have a passenger who wants to use the phone?
What if you have a passenger who wants to make a call?..or better yet, what if your daughter is being chased by a road raging maniac? Don’t you want her to be able to call for help?
Why should someone who doesn’t drink have to pay for this device?
Do lifetime parts exist in this reality?
If you don’t have enough attention span to turn off your own turn signals, maybe you shouldn’t be driving. EVERYONE has left a turn signal on, but most people don’t do it often enough to make it a safety issue.
Would you please explain the need for an auxiliary oil cooler?
If your car has a functioning cooling system, I don’t see the need. If your car was air/oil cooled instead of using coolant, I would understand this.
I think they already have this…it is called a train or a bus. Really, if you can’t be bothered to maintain proper following distance on your own, maybe you would be better off using mass transit.
Those of us who know how to properly control our speed and following distance should not have to pay for such a feature.
The Key Word Is “Want”. I Want A Lot Of Things. I Say “Grow A Little Patience”. That’s The Problem. We Live In A World Of Ridiculous Instant Gratification.
I have 2 cell phones (one business and one personal) and I don’t leave them on and don’t use them in the car. I actually plan ahead, sometimes days and weeks ahead.

Whitey, You’ll Need Them Soon Enough. The Earth Is Entering The Cooling Phase Of “Global Warming”. Sorry, I Mean “Climate Change”.

They are very nice on a dumptruck also(you could wrap aluminum foil around the mirrors in the evening)-Kevin
Okay then. You plan ahead for everything. I envy your clairvoyance.
What happens when someone NEEDS to use a cell phone? What if one of the women in your life is being chased by a road raging maniac and she wants to call for help? How do you plan ahead for that? Maybe she should have to pull over and become a sitting duck to make her call?
Seriously, there are times in an emergency when it is okay to use a cell phone while you are still driving.
What happens when some college kid rolls her SUV and needs help, but nobody can call an ambulance because all the nearby cars are jamming the cell phones?
