The best negotiating tactic you used when buying a car

On new cars, if you’re a serious buyer, buying a car TODAY, I’m gonna tell you to go pound sand. I can make more money from someone else, and I don’t trust someone who needs a car TODAY unless he’s DMX with a briefcase full of cash. I can make a couple hundred selling a DSLR at a Ritz Camera in a mall, why should I waste my time on you?

I got caught by that one the first ( and only ) time I brought a new car. After $2500 down the remaining $8000 was financed over 3 years. It looked tempting and I had a job. In the end I paid back about $12,000 on the $8k. ( To be fair it lasted 9 years and 120,000 miles before expiring! )

Last time I had to pay all at once as my credit rating is non-existant. Writing a check for about $3700 really hurts, even if it was talked down from $5k.

You imbecile who said I NEEDED a car that day? I have CASH and plenty of it. You are exactly the kind of person I would never give ANY of my money to. Good luck to you…
