Consumer Reports really likes its much-improved handling, as well as a “fix” of the highly-flawed My Ford Touch system, but they still consider it to have a lot of flaws, including a “cheap & plasticky interior”.
I find Consumer Reports data analysis to be very good…especially in determining problem vehicles. But I find their reviews to be no better then mags like Motor Trend or Car and Driver. They may not take money for advertising, but their own person preferences come through. Many of their past reviews have been extremely biased.

The My Ford Touch System went away in 2017 in the Explorer. 2017+ models have the much more reliable Sync 3 system.
