I have a 1996 Nissan Maxima that shows P0500 trouble code, which indicates vehicle speed sensor malfunction.
The speedometer sometimes goes dead and a couple of minutes later, it comes back to life as if nothing has happened. Of course, the CHECK ENGINE light is on.
I decided to check on the internet before replacing the vehicle speed sensor and found the following article that says that it may be broken wires rather than the vehicle speed sensor itself.

I went to a Nissan dealer and asked for this repair kit, but the person at the counter said that he has never heard of it, and he went to the repair area to check for technical service bulletin and found none.
Has anyone heard of this? If so, what is the exact technical service bulletin number?
