After this woman’s Uber account was hacked, she was billed for thousands of dollars of rides that other people took. Uber’s “machine learning” couldn’t figure out that one person couldn’t possibly take rides in L.A. and Honolulu w/in 30 minutes of each other. A subsequent ride in Las Vegas–less than 4 hours after the Honolulu ride–didn’t set off alarm bells for Uber.
This is ridiculous . I wonder what payment service or credit card she used. I once got a call from Visa asking if a 9.95 charge was legit in a place 1000 miles from our home. Same thing with Discover .
I mean I guess with a concord that could be theoretically possible
