My wife’s 2004 Acura TSX Automatic has started occasionally making a whining noise during acceleration only. The frequency of the noise changes with the RPMs and goes away when the gas pedal is released. I notice that the sound usually starts happening after idling at a long red light. Don’t know if the cold weather has anything to do with it either. I changed 3qts of transmission fluid (that’s all that will drain at a time) and the sound still happens. I also do not notice any difference in performance gear shifts at all.
Sounds like a transmission issue. Did you use Honda/Acura ATF?
Check your engine air intake from end to end, especially inside the air-filter box, for rodent nests and food stashes…
Yes, I used the Honda/Acura ATF from the dealership.
I checked the air-filter box and didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. After searching the forums more thoroughly it seems like I have the same problem as this person: http://community.cartalk.com/posts/list/1/2121679.page#2659963
