I have a 1998 Subaru Legacy Wagon. I have replaced the engine and had a subsequent rebuild. The car always smells hot. When people ride with me for the first time they comment on it when they get out of the car - “Your engine smells hot - you should get that checked out” The mechanic at the dealer is adamant that it is not a problem. He blames everything on the car not being dealer serviced by the original owner.
