2004 Outback, 70K miles. Has developed “clunk” when turning at slow speed, steering wheel locked - either right or left. Doesn’t happen when car sits overnight, or driven less than 10 miles. Axle? Cv joints?
It sounds like a problem with the CV joints, but this is very soon for CV joint failure on that model. Another possibility is that the steering rack is beginning to bind up. I would suggest that you have this situation checked a.s.a.p., as either of these problems is a potential safety issue.
Is this car an automatic or a manual?
It is a 5 speed manual. Thanks!
