i have a stuck thermostat in the open position…on a saturn vue 2002 v-6.
i’m told its located in a nasty hard to get to area…and it will cost almost $ 500.00.
dealer quote…is there anybody outhere that can beat that cost down…its about 95 % labor…and at the same time feel confident that the job can be well done by a none dealer.

I feel very confident that an independent mechanic can do it well and cheaper. Dealers are no better (or worse) than independent mechanics for almost anything you might need done on your car. They will almost always charge more per hour and often more for parts and supplies. They also tend to look at repairs a little different than the independent.
