Struts for Toyota Matrix

I was recently told that I needed new struts for my 2005 Toyota Matrix. This was after the 2nd set of tires with abnormal wear. Bumps have been a lot more noticeable than they used to be also. The car has 107,000 miles on it. Have there been problems with the struts on the Matrix? Is it reasonable to replace them?

It’s only reasonable if the car has been driven hard over bad roads. The Matrix is a very well built car and I have not heard of any strut problems.

Uneven tire wear can be caused by poor alignment as well as bad struts. By comparison, our 1994 Nissan Sentra ahs 120,000 miles on it and still has the origianl struts/shocks. The car just had an inspection and all was well.

If you are feeling bumps more, then you need struts. 107,000 is not unreasonable for the life, and in no way indicate ‘problems with the struts’.
