I have '99 Civic Ex coupe with 120k miles and manual transmission. Whenever I accelerate in any gear above first, I hear a strange metallic sound when my rpm’s reach roughly 2,200. It sounds like a rattle or scrape and is coming from somewhere in the front half of the car.
If anyone has any thoughts on what might be causing the sound, please share.

Very possibly a heat shield around an exhaust component vibrating. Once found it shouldn’t be hard or expensive to repair.
