Stop fuse blown

My Toyota 4runner started to blow the stop fuse, causing the shifter not to get in gear when I press the brake pedal. I changed the teal bulbs on both tale lights (they did look kind of burned). But now I can press on the brake pedal a couple of times, but after the 3rd time… it keeps blowing the STOP fuse. As anyone as any ideas what could be happening and where?

Thanks!!

From what you have mentioned, it appears there is a short to ground. If you pressed the pedal 3 times and then blew the fuse, I would start looking at the wires going to the switch at the brake pedal.

Thanks. I’ll start looking for it in the morning! Will let you know what I find.
Thanks again!

The most likely spot for the trouble may be with the rear hatch wiring.
