After her hip fracture, my mother-in law has a difficult time with getting into cars which are too low (her honda civic) or too high. She wants a car with an enterence more like my Subaru Forester, but she doesn’t need such a big car. Any suggestions? Any resources on the height of the step to enter different cars?
A friend of our family has arthritic knees and found that a Honda CR-V worked for her. She slides in and out without much joint manipulation. Maybe she should visit the Subaru dealer and see if anything else in their lineup would work, like an Outback or Impreza. Power seats that allow height adjustment can open up the range of cars and trucks that could work for her.
If a subura is big what is a small car to her. I have a xb toyato and it is easy to get into and the size for parking is great. good mpg
to repairs. wide opening doors. the 2008 era even bigger then my old one. don,t let the look from outside fool you. and the price is good
$ 16000.00 . the new 2008 has bigger engine 2,5lit take a test drive I can,t wait untill my old xb needs replaced. second choice would be a honda element they look evenhigher and they are great cars
There are a variety of vehicles that have better step-in heights. There is a reason why the new “cross-overs” are so popular. They are easy to get into but don’t require you to climb in like SUV’s. Check them out like the Ford Escape, Freestyle, and I hear the 500/Taurus is easy to get in and out of due taller seat height. Other’s have mentioned the CR-V. I’m not as familiar with the imports, but go to one of the auto websites like Edmunds.com and do research on cross-vers. That will produce a host of models to start looking at.
