Steering wheel weird feel and noise

So yesterday out of no where my car’s steering wheel started to act weird. When I turn my wheel at stationary it feels like something is poping, moving that is connected to the steering wheel and makes a noise with the feeling. It also does it when I am driving it at slow parking lot speeds.

My car has an electric motor that moves the steering wheel, apparently. I checked, there is no fluid reservoir etc. It is 2005 Malibu LS v6

I wanted to come here before I took it to the mechanic, have some idea about it. Thank you all.

It could be a lot of things. Your description doesn’t narrow it down at all.

It is best to let the mechanic put their eyes, ears and hands on the car to find out the cause.
