My starter on my 1999 Toyota Camry keeps starting even after I turn the car off. I can disconnect the battery, pull the starter fuse and after reconnecting the battery the starter still tries to start. After several attempts of disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, the starter stopped starting.
I’m assuming it’s the starter (solenoid) itself. Does anyone have any advice?
A family member ran into this with his Toyota 4runner-it was the starter itself.
Does this car have a remote start feature? It sounds like the remote starter is activating by itself.
It’s NOT impossible for a starter solenoid to stay closed; but, I don’t think it has. There is a starter relay. It may be in the relay box under the hood. Often, several relays have the same part number. See if you can swap the starter relay with another. Results?
