Starter keeps burning out on 95 caviler

I HAVE REPLACED THE STARTER 4 TIMES ON MY CHEVY CAVILER AND EVEN WITH A NEW STARTER WHEN YOU START THE CAR IT GIVES A HIGH PITCHED WHINE AND THE STARTER KEEPS RUNNING AND I HAVE TO SLAM THE HOOD TO GET IT TO TURN OFF BUT IT EVENTUALLY BURNS OUT IN A WEEK. THE SHIM IS INSTALLED THERE IS A NEW ALTERNATOR I CANT GET BACK AND FORTH TO WORK CONSISTENTLY AND THIS ISSUE IS GOING TO COST ME MY HOME AS A RESULT IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE WHOM CAN HELP.

I Believe That The Clearance Between The Starter Gear And Flywheel/Ring Gear Has To Meet Specs.

The clearance has to be checked by feeler gauge and shimmed to the proper clearance. I believe this is more of an issue going to an aftermarket starter than staying with an OEM part. You might need more shims or a thicker one.

If the teeth got screwed up on either gear from this condition, problems could have been created. Check the teeth for smoothness.
