I was cleaning my floor mats and reinstalled them without realizing the driver side mat was holding the gas pedal down. I started the car and the engine cranked over and roared to about 5k rpm for a brief second before I could shut it off. The car was warmed up from a prior drive and only sat for about 15 minutes. Do you think I did any damage to isn’t engine? I’m worried that I took significant life out of the engine by essentially redlining it before enough oil pressure was built up.
Nope.
The computer has a rev limiter that prevents the engine from damage from over revving.

No engine problem, but I would make REAL sure the floor mat is securely fastened down, and can’t cause this problem while you’re driving.
