Stalling an engine

I have a 1997 dodge w/cummins diesel-the problem is every time I have the air condition on the truck stalls, as soon as I let off the pedal. It has been very dangerous as it has stalled in the middle of turning and going down hills etc.,

The throttle position sensor should be checked.

Dirty throttle body or sticking idle air controller.

On a diesel?

Most vehicles (gasoline or diesel) have a power increase function in the computer which will add more fuel when the A/C is turned on. Yours may not be working.

FWIW, diesels don’t have inake throttles or Idle Air Control valves. Fuel flow controls RPM/power.

I’m wondering if the AC compressor is binding and loading down the crank too much to idle.
